MES was chosen as an environmental contractor to perform subsurface investigations, tank removals, and installation and maintenance of potable water treatment systems at various locations throughout New York State. Work included:
Subsurface Investigations and Remedial Actions:
MES mobilized drilling crews to install soil borings and groundwater monitoring wells. Soil and groundwater samples were collected, field screened, and submitted for laboratory analysis. Analytical data was reviewed and the presence or absence of contamination determined. If contamination was present, additional monitoring wells and/or borings were installed to delineate the extent of the subsurface contamination. Work also included excavation, characterization, and disposal of contaminated materials, including liquids, soils, and drums.
Installation and Maintenance of Potable Water Treatment Systems:
MES performed routine sampling (monthly and quarterly) of numerous potable water treatment systems throughout New York State. MES was contracted to install and maintain potable water treatment systems based on a new contaminant detection.

Tank Removals:
Involved mobilization of equipment and work crews to various locations to expose, decommission, and remove underground and aboveground storage tanks. During the tank removal process, an environmental scientist from MES was on-site to screen soils, obtain soil and groundwater samples, inspect the tanks, and obtain photo-documentation of the events. If encountered, contaminated soils were stockpiled on-site, sampled, and subsequently disposed of properly at an approved facility.
