MES was awarded a contract to supervise, manage, coordinate, and conduct the removal of approximately 800 tons of No. 2 Fuel Oil contaminated soils from a collection lagoon located in an environmentally sensitive area.

MES was awarded a contract to supervise, manage, coordinate, and conduct the removal of approximately 800 tons of No. 2 Fuel Oil contaminated soils from a collection lagoon located in an environmentally sensitive area.

As part of the project, the following activities were conducted:

  • Dewatering of approximately 100,000 gallons of extracted groundwater to a wastewater treatment facility;
  • Installation of erosion control measures including hay bales, silt fence, and rock-filled gabion check dams in an on-site stream;
  • Removal and disposal of oil-water separators and sewer containment structures:
  • Installation of an oil collection trench, infiltration trench, and drainage swale;
  • Installation of a concrete drywell;
  • Design and installation of decontamination pads and stone tracking mats;
  • Coordination of sieve analysis and proctor determinations prior to and during compacting and backfilling approximately 5,500 tons of material;
  • Grading and coordinating the installation of topsoil placement, seeding, and tree/shrub placement.

Our responsibilities included working closely with the resident engineer and design engineer, following and complying with job specifications prepared by the design engineer including:

reference standards, unit pricing, quality control, and contract closeout procedures, coordinating and managing numerous subcontractors on-site, applying for and following applicable permits to conduct work, coordinating the schedule and submitting applicable documentation to the client and design engineer, complying with Conservation Commission Order of Conditions, and providing the client and design engineer with required waste disposal documentation, including BOLs and weight slips.

Our responsibilities included working closely with the resident engineer and design engineer, following and complying with job specifications prepared by the design engineer including:
